Once you find a set of armour you like, you either pass up on it and hope that someday you will have the parts needed, or then you begin grinding. Monsters all follow the same basic patterns, and your job is almost always the same: break all the breakable parts, kill or capture the monster. Once you learn the ropes, it just doesn't feel like the game is offering you any more! New weapons and armour are just a means for killing tougher monsters, and getting even better armour. Took a few hours, became proficient with it, got bored. So I got bored of it, started using longswords. And using the weapon is hardwired into muscle memory. My "main" weapon I started off with was the lance. Okay, so now I'm about 40 hours in, and my interest levels in the game are rapidly plummeting. as he was still laying down in the ground unmoving for the past half hour) (it was worth it though, 40 minutes into the match suddenly I see Kayamba saying how he was gonna hold him down as he got the finishing blow. Kayama was knocked out 30 seconds into the match. I got knocked out once and decided to go try the pitfall trap, and beat him that way. I went through all my potions, Mega Potions, AND Herbs (actually the cats stole my last two). I can't wait to fight the giant Rust Duramboros now! I originally hated his design, but it looks really good in-game, and he easily has one of the coolest attack patterns of any monster. I've also warmed up to Duramboros immensely. I loved it! That's why I play Monster Hunter! The big fella made me use up every last healing item, all of my rations/steaks (got me down to half stamina at one point), made me go and take a nap at my camp, knocked me out twice, and I only killed him with five seconds left in the hunt. Nothing like fighting Duramboros for the first time to ramp up the difficulty.
